3. The unhappy marriage of “Sissy” With the Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria
Franz Josef and Sissy become later the most famous Emperor and Empress of the Hapsburg empire.
But unfortunately, Sissy has a very unhappy marriage with the Emperor Franz Joseph, who loved Her very much, but didn’t
have the time to be with Sissy. He was always busy to rule his great empire of 50 million people. For those reasons Sissy,
who was lonely and unhappy, said many times "I wish he were no emperor".
The Empress Sissy was unhappy from the first day she was in Vienna. Her mother-in-law, Sophie, make Sissy’s life very
unhappy with the very strict protocol of the court of Vienna.
Sissy has three dotters and one child with the Emperor Franz Josef; Sophie, born in 1855, Gisela, born in 1856, the crown
prince, Rudolph, born in 1858 and Marie Valerie born in 1867.
